Fishing, hiking, kayaking or simply setting a towel out on the beach and soaking up the sun are just a few activities at Lake Huntington. Lake Huntington is a spring-fed lake in Sullivan County with an average depth of 17 feet. Public boating access is available along the western shoreline. Gasoline motors are not allowed due to the lake’s small size. Slip your kayak, canoe, or electric-powered boat into the water and set out for a day on the lake. Or, explore the forested shoreline with a snorkeling excursion.

Angling for a fishing adventure at Lake Huntington? This spot may not be well known, but anglers have been known to reap rewards from this lake. Rainbow trout, largemouth bass, chain pickerel and panfish all makes their home at Lake Huntington. Beach fishing is also allowed along the shoreline here. The daily limit of trout is five fish.

The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River is a quick two-mile drive from Lake Huntington. This winding river offers 73 miles of both thrilling and relaxing outdoor opportunities throughout its season, which starts in mid-April and extends through October. Paddle a small section near Lake Huntington and camp out along its shores while listening to the trickling water as you fall asleep under the stars at night. Keep your eyes open to spot the occasional bald eagle, which nests along the river’s shoreline.

For a bit of social atmosphere, the town of Callicoon is located less than 20 minutes northwest of Lake Huntington and has everything you’ll need for a day away from home. Take your time to admire unique shops along the downtown corridor, stepping into a cafe for a snack or a leisurely dinner at one of the more upscale restaurants. Before the summer ends, snag fresh produce, cheese and local wine from the farmer’s market.
