Lake Manassas is nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Prince William County in Northern Virginia. Created in 1969 by the impoundment of Broad Run River, the 800 acres of Lake Manassas are owned by the City of Manassas and provide municipal drinking water. Although the lake used to be open to the public, recreational activities on the lake are now restricted while talks continue between the City, County, and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries about a suitable location for a public boat ramp. In the meantime, real estate continues to be built in the gated community that surrounds Lake Manassas, and more people each year are calling the lake home.
The Lake Manassas community offers residents amenities such as hiking trails, nature trails, a playground and a basketball court. Lake residents enjoy getting to know their neighbors as they sunbathe at the community’s Olympic size swimming pool, or they may relieve stress as they hit tennis balls to their partners at one of the many tennis courts also found at the swimming center.
With a lake comes fishing, and residents have ample places to fish with the community having three stocked ponds in addition to bank fishing along the shores of Lake Manassas. Anglers can cast in their lines for largemouth bass, walleye, smallmouth bass, black crappie, white crappie, and channel catfish.
Golf enthusiasts will benefit from the easy access to a few premier golf and country clubs. Lake residents do not have to play golf to enjoy the lovely greens that border the shoreline of Lake Manassas.
Lake Manassas is an ideal place to sink roots. With easy access to nearby highways and train stations as well as Dulles National Airport, commuting to Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Leesburg is not that difficult. Nearby Old Town offers treasures in a variety of antique stores, and history buffs enjoy stepping back in time as they walk along the original battlefields of Manassas and Bull Run where the American Civil War took place.
Whether potential Lake Manassas homeowners want to build their own dream home or buy one already in existence, there is no time like the present.
